How to apply to the Undergraduate programs without Completion of the University Preparatory Certificate Program of Nazarbayev University.
Admission to the undergraduate programs of the Nazarbayev University Schools is carried out for available places on a competitive basis. The direct undergraduate admission complies with the Admission Regulations and considers two options:
• Direct Admission
• Transfer Admission
THOSE APPLICANTS WHO WISH TO COMPETE SHOULD:
1. Read the Admission Regulations (please click here to see the file).
2. Register at the Nazarbayev University website and get access to the online application form through personal account. If the personal account is available there is no need to set it up again.
3. Download and fill in the Application Form in the personal account which is available. To save the data in the application form please use the option "Upload".
4. Upload scanned copies of the required documents to the personal account.
5. Check whether you have filled in the form correctly according to the Instructions and send the application form and uploaded documents using option "Submit"
6. Submit the required documents (according to the List below) to the University:
Nazarbayev University, Admissions, Office 1118, Kabanbay batyr ave., 53, 010000, Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
7. Submit results of the standardized tests via the test administrators.
LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR ADMISSION COMPETITION
1. Notarized copy of secondary education certificate with its appendix
2. Notarized copy of passport or ID
3. Essay (see below)
An applicant's essay demonstrates the applicant's capacity to thinking and self-expression, and allows learning the applicant not only as a prospective student, but as an individual. The essay should substantiate the choice of the Nazarbayev University, as well as:
- reflect reasons for transfer and goal that the applicant wants to attain - (for transfer students)
- develop on the topics provided (for direct admission applicants):
Describe valuable experience, achievements, ethic dilemmas that have had great impact on applicant
Describe personal, local, national, or international problem and its significance/relevance for applicant
Describe a fiction character, historical figure, creative or scientific individual that has greatly influenced applicant. Explain why and how this person influenced the applicant.
Describe your academic interests, personal plans, and life experience that can bring variety to the academic life. Give your own examples/personal experience that can illustrate what kind of variety you can bring to the University community, or a case that illustrates significance/relevance of the variety for you
Any other topic
Write not more than 500 words.
4. Two letters of recommendation from the academic institution where the applicant has studied:
The applicant should provide the University with two recommendation letters from two recommenders (instructor, research advisor, mentor, head of the academic institution), who personally know the applicant and are capable to objectively assess intellectual capacities, academic achievements, and potential for studies in the undergraduate programs in the competitive environment. Letter of recommendation should be sealed in the envelope and signed by the recommender across the flap. Either a recommender or an applicant can send letters of recommendation to the University. 5. English language test results (TOEFL or IELTS)
6. Test results (SAT Reasoning Test or ACT with Writing Part and/or SAT Subject Test)
The applicant must send the standardized test results of SAT Reasoning Test, or ACT with Writing Part, SAT, IELTS, or TOEFL to the University. The tests should be sent to the University address via test administrator using the code (Institutional Code) of Nazarbayev University:
6762 - for TOEFL
7915 - for SAT
5521 - for ACT with Writing Part
7. Official transcript from the university in two languages: original language and English (for transfer students):
The applicants, who study in Kazakhstani universities and at the universities where English is not an academic language of instruction, should submit an original transcript officially translated into English.
Applicants or the university issuing the transcript should send the transcript to the NU's address. However, if the university sends the transcript, the applicant should notify the university about the submission deadlines.
8. Description of the courses taken (subjects) in two languages: original language and English (for transfer students)
Note: All documents sent to Nazarbayev University shall be the University' property and are not liable to return.
